Pink Magnolia in Bloom

I take dozens of pictures of this tree (and its sister) each spring. The colors are so pretty — deep magenta before the buds open, dark pink when open, and pale pink as the flowers fade. Part of what makes the tree so beautiful is the lack of leaves getting in the way. I also love the light fragrance. It doesn’t smell as lemony as a traditional big Southern Magnolia, but I detect a bit of sweetness in the air. Enjoy the pretty bit of color from Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley!
