We visited the Shenandoah County Fair on the last day of this year’s run.
Other than a few weepy tomatoes and tired flowers that had been on the judging tables for a week, the last day had as much energy and excitement as the first must have.
The fairgrounds are really large! We walked quite a bit to see all of the vendors and to visit all of the exhibits.
One thing I love about county fairs is that everyone has a chance for a blue ribbon. Whether you’re bringing in a painting, a jar of canned green beans, or a prize pumpkin, if you’re good at growing, canning, and crafting, you have a chance to be rewarded for your efforts.
Not to mention livestock! Bunnies, the largest rooster I’ve ever soon, sheep, pigs, and cows — they’re all present at the county fair. Tim even helped a goat who got its hoof stuck in a rope.
