Purple-Blue Bearded Iris

So many of the plants on the farm remind me of my family.I’m lucky that on both sides of my family, gardening in one form or another was important.

My paternal grandmother loved flowers, and we spent a lot of time talking about them when I rented my first home. She gave me her plant books and said when I got my own home, she had irises for me to plant.

I never got to take her up on her offer, but when I saw the purple-blue bearded irises bloom this week, it was a nice reminder of a grandmother who shared my love of flowers.
