Heavy rain and thunderstorms moved through Virginia today. In Shenandoah county, our ponds, streams, and creeks are all swollen. Stony Creek looks more like a river at the end of the day. When we drove over the bridge, it was at 4 feet. (click the photos to enlarge)

Wow! Is that at Columbia Furnace?
I assume you drove over the Route 42 bridge, not the flooded bridge!
Linda,
Yep, right there near the Shell (Larkins). And it was the 42 bridge — here was no way to get over the flooded bridge!
I did go back the next morning, and the mess is just unbelievable. I’ll post those pics separately. Fortunately the debris had been pushed off the bridge, so it was passable, but there was a wall of limbs, trees, and trash on the upper side of the bridge. It looks like the houses, at least there, were spared.
